The Imitation of Christ

This is considered one of the greatest spiritual master pieces of all time.  It is written in the style of a conversation with Jesus.  It is reported to be the second most read book in Christian reading next to the bible.  by Thomas a Kempis.

The Twelve Steps to Holiness and Salvation

This is a spiritual growth classic by St. Alphonsus Liguori, one of the most eloquent writers in Catholic history. 

The Soul of the Apostolate

If you are seeking to be a Catholic leader and to grow in your personal apostolate, this is a must read.  by Dom Jean-Baptiste Chautard

The Catholic Gentleman

Written by Sam Guzman, cohost of the Catholic Gentleman podcast.  It is a great reflection on what it means to be a Catholic gentleman, in todays day and age.  

Navigating the Interior Life - Spiritual Direction  and the Journey to God

Written by Dan Burke and Fr. John Bartunek, this is a great guide to learn what Spiritual Direction is and how to find a spiritual director.  It also provides great insights into the spiritual life and how we can make real an ongoing progress in spiritual growth.  

The Devil in the Castle - St. Teresa of Avila, Spiritual Warfare, and the Progress of the Soul

This is a powerhouse of a book on understanding the processes of spiritual growth and how to fight the very real spiritual warfare that we face every day.  This is by Dan Burke, head of the Avila Institute.  

The Forge, the Furrow, and the Way

These are some of the writings of St. Josemaria Escriva, who arguably wrote more to help the laity live their faith in and through their career vocations than any one else.  These books are written in short paragraphs with topic indexes that make it easy to read and to find content. 

The Real Presence

This is one of the best books ever written about the Eucharist, by St. Peter Julian Eymard, who was given the title, Apostle of the Eucharist, at his canonization. 

Consecration to St. Joseph

Written by famed Catholic author Fr. Donald Calloway regarding consecrating our lives to St. Joseph's intercession and model.

Conversation with Christ

This is a great primer for development of a meaningful prayer life that translates the teachings of the great doctors of the Church into accessible language for the laity.  By Fr. Peter Thomas Rorhbach

The Rhythm of Life

This book is by Matthew Kelly, one the best known Catholic authors in the world.  This book is not specifically Catholic, but is about the need for us to live a life that balances our entire being, mind, body, heart and soul.  

How to Get More Out of Holy Communion

Written by St. Peter Julian Eymard, the Apostle of the Eucharist.  Wonderful resource on growing in your knowledge and love of the Eucharist. 

Parents of the Saints

We have all heard about the lives of the saints, but have you ever wondered about who raised them?  This book beautifully answers that question.  Author Patrick O'Hearn is a wonderfully engaging writer. 

Uniformity With God's Will

This is written by St. Alphonsus Liguori and is a masterpiece on understanding the importance of accepting God's will in our life.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church

One of the great gifts that Pope St. John Paul II left the Church was his promulgation of a Catechism of the Catholic Church.   Get the version with the Imprimi Potest of Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger.

True Devotion to Mary

This is possibly the greatest book written about the Blessed Mother, by St. Louis De Montfort.  It was this book that led Pope St. John Paul II to consecrate his life and his papacy to the Blessed Mother.

Jesus Our Eucharistic Love

This is a collection of some of the best and most inspiring teachings on the Holy Eucharist by Fr. Stefano Manelli

The Three Conversions and the Three Ways of the Spiritual Life

This is a more advanced but still accessible guide to how to look at the phases of growth in the spiritual life.  It is considered a classic.  By Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange.

Perfectly Yourself

From Matthew Kelly this book is about discovering who God created you to be and living it.

Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament

Written by St. Peter Julian Eymard, the Apostle of the Eucharist.  Wonderful resource to come to know and have devotion to the Mother of the Eucharist, our Blessed Mother.  

30 Day Eucharistic Revival: A Retreat with St. Peter Julian Eymard

This is bound to become a classic.  Co-written by Fr. Donald Calloway and Patrick O'Hearn, this book draws from the best teacher on the Eucharist in the Church history, St. Peter Julian Eymard.  You will come to know and love our Lord's Real Presence in the Eucharist, like never before.  Awesome read in this time of Eucharistic revival.
